Alaska State Employees Association Juneau Chapter Awards Scholarship for the 2010/2011 Academic Year The Juneau Chapter of ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 has awarded two scholarships for the 2010/2011 academic year.

The recipient of the scholarship for the child of a Juneau Chapter member was August Browning. August Browning is in his third year at Dartmouth College, and he plans to double major in Economics and Theatre. In Southeast, Mr. Browning has been worked as an archaeological intern, performed in plays at JDHS, formed an improvisational comedy group, participated in science fairs, varsity cross country, soccer, and track, National Ocean Science Bowl, substitute taught, and tutored Calculus, in addition to holding jobs to pay for his education.

 

The recipient of the scholarship for a Juneau Chapter member was Edwell John. Edwell John is attending the University of Alaska Southeast while working for the Department of Health and Social Services as a Training Specialist II. Mr. John established a live online training program for this department. He is working for a Bachelor of Business Administration and plans to continue on to receive a Master of Business Administration. The Juneau Chapter congratulates both of the scholarship recipients and hopes that education will help advance their career goals.
