02-25-2008. 2008/2009 Juneau Chapter Scholarships

Juneau Chapter Scholarship applications for 2008/2009 are available.

The Juneau Chapter of ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 is offering two scholarships for the 2008/2009 academic year for applicants who have not previously received a scholarship from the Juneau Chapter of ASEA.

The deadline for applications to be received or postmarked for the two scholarships offered by the Chapter is March 15, 2008.

All applicants should mail the application to the ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 Juneau office at the following address: ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 Juneau Chapter Scholarship Fund, PO 20009 Juneau, AK, 99802.

Applications must be submitted or postmarked by March 15, 2008. Successful applicants will be notified of their selection by May 15, 2008.

10-29-2007. ASEA Juneau Announces This Year's Scholars

Hani Sideek

Hani Siddeek was awarded a $1,000 scholarship for the child of a Juneau Chapter member enrolled and in good standing in a 4-year degree program at an accredited university. He has currently enrolled in the College of Engineering at the University of Cincinnati pursuing a degree in biomedical engineering. He plans to be a doctor.

Amy McLeod

Amy McLeod was awarded a $1,000 scholarship for a Juneau Chapter member enrolled in a 4-year degree program at an accredited university. She is enrolled in the University of Denver studying environmental policy and management, natural resources. She works for the State of Alaska ensuring environmental compliance for construction projects.

Ramona Alex

Ramona Alex was awarded a $1,000 scholarship for the child of a Juneau Chapter member or a Juneau Chapter member enrolled and in good standing in a vocational school program leading to certification. She has been accepted to the International Academy of Design and Technology at Seattle for a course of study preparing her to be a fashion designer.

About Scholarships

In 2005, the Juneau Chapter of ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 began awarding three scholarships annually.

The Juneau Chapter of ASEA/AFSCME Local 52 is offering three scholarships for the 2007/2008 academic year for applicants who have not previously received a scholarship from the Juneau Chapter of ASEA.

The deadline for applications to be received or postmarked for the three scholarships offered by the Chapter is March 15, 2007. Application forms are available from the links below.

The scholarships are:

  1. One $1,000 scholarship (to be split between terms) for the child of a Juneau Chapter member or a Juneau Chapter member enrolled and in good standing in a vocational school program leading to certification.
  2. One $1,000 scholarship (to be split between terms) for the child of a Juneau Chapter member enrolled and in good standing in a 4-year degree program at an accredited university.
  3. One $1,000 scholarship (to be split between terms) for a Juneau Chapter member enrolled in a 4-year degree program at an accredited university.

Instructions

To apply for one of these scholarships, submit the application form (see links below), along with a letter of reference, high school/college/trade school grade transcripts, SAT and/or ACT scores, if applicable, and an original essay outlining: previous accomplishments, academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, community service, employment history; future plans, education or training sought, post education hopes or ambitions, etc. Only one letter of reference is needed.
